Happy Mother’s Day from South Korea!

Happy Mother’s Day from South Korea!

Don’t worry, this will be short and sweet (just like Mama Munch) 🙂  By now you probably know Bryan and I well enough to know that we are all about spending as little time on the computer as possible, and spending the majority of the time enjoying real life.  So that’s what I wanted to share with you for this Mother’s Day.

KristinBethanyMomI can’t believe all of the time over the years I spent trying to find my Mom the “perfect” Mother’s Day gift.  Expensive chocolates, Victoria’s Secret Lotions, Yankee Candles, you name it.  I kind of cringe at the thought of those hours and dollars I spent shopping.  Sure, she enjoyed those items for a short time before she ate them or used them up.  But what my mom really wanted the whole time was just to spend time with me.  But I was too busy trying to be “Super Woman” to see this – running around to work and commuting and trying to squeeze all sorts of random stuff in.

If you look around my parents’ townhouse (they’ve since moved to a smaller house after their birds left the nest), you’ll see what really matters to my mom.  MomDadandUsShe treasures the times we spent together as a family – the photos from our wedding in Jamaica, the ridiculous crafts Bethany and I made her growing up, and the small things like the cross from the Christian Quarter in Cairo I sent home.  She just wanted to spend time with Bethany, Bryan, and I.  She didn’t want pricey Groupons or purses!

The hardest thing about traveling is being away from home during the holidays.  Skype and Facebook and all that social media stuff just doesn’t compare to quality time with those we love.

So if you are blessed to have a mother (or another special mother figure) in your life today, give them some time out of your busy day.  I guarantee those memories will last longer than the overpriced flowers you were thinking of sending! 🙂

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY Mama Munch & Mama Waugh!

Those are very wise words, Kristin. You are absolutely correct by saying that spending time together is the most precious gift. I’m looking forward to our time together when you and Bryan come home in June. I love you guys very much. You are my Sunshine! Love, mommy
We still can shop while we spend time together, right?
    😉

Bryan pointed out that I teased you for being short but it looks like I’m the short one in the photo of us! 😉

I liked seeing the photos of you, Kelly, and Grandma Wimer. Can’t wait to see all of you in person this summer! 🙂
