On the Photo Front

On the Photo Front

For those of you that follow us on Facebook, you can just ignore this post.  Over the past month I’ve already updated you on the following.

Anyways, for those of you that are not part of the evil world of Facebook, I have some semi-exciting news….well, at least it’s semi-exciting for me.  Mainly because I have no idea how these companies came across our website, and the media within.

For starters, about a month ago I sold the rights to a sheep video that I took in Romania.  They used a whopping 1 second of my video to help make this 30 second Quirky.com commercial.  Listen for, “this is a traffic jam.”  I have no idea if this commercial will be on television, but it’s had 100,000 views a week on Youtube already.

(Quirky does not allow me to embed this commercial into my site, so please click on the link below)

Luckily, I was a little “smarter” about the sell of this video than I was on my first photo sell.  A few months ago the CEO of a marketing company out of New York City asked for the rights to a photo that he found on our website.  It was a photo of the Grund area of Luxembourg and he wanted to place the photo on the home-screen of European Value Partners website.  When asked how much I would like for the photo, I ignorantly replied, “$20 sounds good.”  I really had no idea how much companies paid for the rights of photos.  I instantly got a reply that he would offer me $100 for the photo.  Oh well….live and learn.  Below is a screen-shot of the photo (cropped) I sold for a whopping $20.

And the last bit of news I have on the photo front.  I still have the Oasis Overland discount for anyone that might want it.  I placed 3rd place in a photo competition MursiLipPlateWomenfor my Mursi Tribe photo.  If you ever plan to go on an Oasis Overland trip in the next 8 months, please contact me and I can get you a discount.

That’s all I have for now.  I just want to make sure we keep our non-Facebook users in the loop.  Hope everyone out there is doing well and had a great summer!

Did you get more than 20 bucks for the video? ;o)

    • Bryan Waugh

By my calculations, we made $1,620,000 an hour….but only for a second.

    Thats pretty cool

I do not recall the $20 story on evil facebook, so I’m glad I read this. 🙂
